Selected natural black fan shells from approved sources for crafts and interior/exterior decoration. Our clients have also used the shells for table decoration and as spectacular serving dishes, (always wash thoroughly before use)

Background:
The shells, live in soft sediments with only a few centimetres of the shell exposed, and are anchored in place with a mass of fine silk thread.
Internally the shells display a stunning black mother of pearl (nacre) over approximately half of the interior length.
When harvested, the meat is apparently similar to that of the scallop.
